The word Riyadh comes from the Arabic word Rawdah which means ‘Gardens’ or ‘Meadows’ due to the immense richness of lush green gardens in the area. As well as being recognized as the capital, Riyadh is considered the center of culture and heritage of Saudi Arabia with its various historic local destinations.
Riyadh experienced a rapid transformation from being a small desert village to a modern city with towering skyscrapers. The metropolis is at the center of the Arabian Peninsula, an important trade route that consists of a fusion and diversity of different cultures and traditions.
With various cultural activities and events taking place and being an economic center of the gulf and the Middle East, Riyadh will be the final destination for the Longines Global Champions Tour.

For just the second time, Diriyah will be host to the Longines Global Champions Tour. The world-class jumping show will take place in the north of Riyadh. The stunning location will have a breathtaking view of heritage sites, Turaif, Al Bujairi, and Boulevard City.
Where the past and future of Saudi collide, Diriyah is considered the center of Saudi Arabia’s rich history and a UNESCO heritage site. It is luxury redefined with its glinting skyscrapers and sparkling nightscapes. It was once known as the first capital of the Saudis and was referred to as the Emirate of Diriyah, it was also the first home of the Saudi royal family. Today, it is known as the seat of the Diriyah Governorate and is part of the Ar Riyad Province.
